I love the whole process. Especially if it is for someone I care about. The right woman is happy with the surprise and as long as I don't get too caught up in making it perfect (and as long as I am okay with her returning or exchanging it) than it is fine. I would like to know how woman feel about the tradeoff between size and color. They say clarity and color but size is what shows it off to her friends.
We find it very confusing. Retail jewelry is very pricey and the woman tends to have very strong tastes one way or the other. We are always afraid of disappointing, as well. It is a big step. I listen very carefully to "her" to try and find out what she likes and then, basically, deliver it. But I think most of us are very intimidated. I put jewelry on the list at month 6 (earrings) and move gradually up to the scale to bracelets and necklaces. It is always best if she is not that into it--then we know she is real and not some gem hound. If u can make this process easier, all the power to you.
