I thought LASIK was for younger eyes by changing the shape of the cornea. But there is a group in town that says it can work to cure presbyopia, as well. My understanding is that these are different things and LASIK does not produce good results in old eyes. Help?!?!?!?!?!?

I got LASIK at 45 and it did not work for me. I still wear reading glasses.
The LASIK business is way down so companies are expanding their claims. Don't believe it. LASIK is for young eyes and you should be looking elsewhere for your solution.
I recently had this procedure and it was not particularly satisfying. Bottom line: I still have to wear glasses to read. And that was the point. Supposedly there are new lenses that can be implanted that will handle near and distance vision. But they are pricey.
